About Me

My name is Cole Harlow, I am a student at The Ohio State University. I am in the BS/MS program meaning that I am completing my Bachelors in Physics Engineering while starting a Masters in Electrical Engineering.

Outside of my coursework at Ohio State I am a member of the Mountain Drone Team. As a member of these team I am helping to design and deploy drone LiDAR based mapping of glaciers in Peru. The work of this team is valuable in assessing the health of these glaciers and future concerns for communities that depend on these glaciers for resources.

In addition to participation on project teams at OSU I am heavily involved in research at OSU. As an undergraduate at OSU I worked on developing temperature and radiation sensors for use in high temperature Gen IV nuclear reactors. For my participation in this work I was rewarded the Ohio State's Engineering Deans Scholarship as well as the Department of Energy's Nuclear Energy University Program Scholarship. I also received the opportunity to present my work at various conferences including the American Nuclear Society's student Conference. For my master's in electrical engineering I have since decided to pursue an interest in antenna design and am now working to design antennas for subsurface imaging.

Finally, my last activity at OSU is to work on various projects for my own enjoyment. I have always been interested in tinkering with various machines, circuits, etc and this is part of what encouraged me to pursue a career in engineering. It is my goal the through this website I can encourage other current and future engineering students to share the passion I have to build something, anything exciting.
